This Is Summer
I took a four-day weekend and I felt like I had a mini-vacation.
My parents rented a house on a nearby lake and the family descended for several days of swimming,
eating, laughing, sharing, sleeping , eating out, corn on the cob, live music and Cold Stone Creamery and watching the kids have a blast.
It was all tinged with sorrow, as my Uncle Paul's cancer is quite advanced and he has a mere matter of weeks to live. It is impossible to wrap my head around it all. I love that the whole family is handling this with such openness, honesty, sorrow, and celebration of his life. Ironically, I feel blessed.
Ed and I celebrated our 6th anniversary with a divine meal that included lobster and coffee-related gifts to recognize our first date at Beaners.
At the end of the weekend, after everyone went home, I felt refreshed, relaxed.
This is Summer.
I am savoring it.
